Our Method
Investment Sense is committed to providing the highest quality market timing. We take a natural approach to the market, letting it tell us where it is headed through
our powerful set of indicators.
We concentrate on medium term market timing. For any given signal you can expect to hold the position for 20 to 90 days. There are two main reasons for our medium term orientation. First, the indicators
which specify this time frame are the most reliable and consistent. Second, it is this time frame which is the most useful to investors. Most people are not so concerned with the small dips (or rises), they mainly don't want to be caught on the long side of the market
when it is really tanking (or short if it is surging).
Of course if you're an active stock trader you can benefit tremendously from our system as well, since it can help you
plan which side of the market you want to orient your trading. Our CTSS will tell you not only whether the market is bullish, bearish or neutral, it will also tell you how extreme the bias is.
Our master indicator is the Composite Technical and Seasonality Score (CTSS). This is broken down into two major components:
- The Composite Technical Score (CTS)
- This is an evaluation of about 50 key indicators. These fall under four main categories: Sentiment, Trend Following,
Breadth and Stochastic. In addition to assigning a strength rating to generated signals, our system
also assigns a weight according to the proven importance of the indicator.
The Composite Seasonality Score (CSS) - This is derived from a master spreadsheet which incorporates data from the Decennial, Presidential
and Annual Cycles. The moving average of all of the influences from these cycles
is taken for the next 40 days.
To obtain the final Composite Technical and Seasonality Score we take the results from the CTS and CSS and multiply them together using
a proprietary weighting in favor of the technical factors. This gives us a value between -100 and +100 which represent the bearish and bullish
extremes respectively.
